Tech Issues
It has been a rough November for tech at FD and I have not been getting items posted to the website in the manner I had hoped. We appear to be in good shape headed forward and I plan to have images of this week's work posted for download on the site by the end of today.
For the future:
Next week extra credit problems will return for both classes. Check here Monday.
Algebra classes are in the process of "flipping". As we progress into more difficult material, I need more time to process exercises with the students in class. Instead of practice problem sets, students will be given the task of note taking outside of class. At first this will done from images of my notes, but we will be very deliberate in how we teach note taking and by the middle of the 3rd quarter, they will doing this on their own. Please call or email if you have further questions.
There will not be a quiz in class on Wednesday this week. Enjoy your long weekend.
Again, I apologize for the website issues and hope things will return now to a more normal flow of information.
Chris

Website Issues
As of right now, blogger will no longer accept the file type I use to upload images of my assignments. This mainly affects students who are on travel or are absent due to illness. I am working on a fix and will hopefully be able to upload assignments again soon. Until then, if you are out of class and need HW email me and I will send the file directly to you. Or use the manual system through the attendance office.
Algebra Chapter 4 Exam
The Chapter 4 Exam is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, 10/15. This will cover all skills in 4.1-4.7. Students will have in class review on Friday, 10/11 (so no quiz this Friday) and a practice exam on Monday, 10/14. The first quarter ends Thursday, 10/17, so there will be little chance to retake this exam. Very important to be prepared.

Algebra Chapter 3 Exam
The chapter 3 exam is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, 9/17/2013. There is a possibility of it being pushed to Wednesday, depending on what gets covered before the SAGA field trip.
This will be the first large exam grade for these students and will have a large impact on their first quarter grades. Students will participate in a comprehensive review of the material Monday before the test. Students are encouraged to spend about 30 minutes of time studying their notebooks in the evening prior to the test. Tests may be reattempted to demonstrate mastery at any time during the quarter in which it was given.

Quizzes
Students in both courses will take their first short quiz of the year today. There will be a quiz every Friday from here on out covering the material assigned during the week. These quizzes are very important to student grades as tests and quizzes are the "product" they produce in my class and account for 85% of their grade.

Since we will begin with a two chapter head start, I will plan to start in on Alg. 2/Geometry concepts by May.
