The Tombstone Project

All math classes will be completing the Tombstone Project over the next couple of class periods. This is an enrichment project that exposes students to the great masters in mathematics and how it has shaped our history. Students may be as creative as they would like in constructing their tombstone, but any materials outside of normal classroom supplies (markers, tape, glue etc) must come from home. Details below:

The Tombstone Project

In this project you will design the tombstone of a great mathematician. You may choose to focus on both living and deceased mathematicians. There are tons of them, trust me.

The idea here is to not just look up some basic facts about a person, but to get more exposure to the breadth and depth of how mathematics has shaped human history. Think of this like studying the masters in art class. Find someone that interests you and dig into what they did and what their life was/is like. Feel free to take time to read beyond what is required by the project.

Each tombstone should include:

Full name, Date of birth (and death if applicable), Country of origin

Accomplishments and/or Areas of Interest and Expertise

Anything else you find interesting

Picture

The tombstones can be constructed out whatever medium you like, but all information MUST be typed. You will briefly present your tombstone to the class.

5th Period Pre Algebra 11/4

Hi Folks- Here is today's pre algebra assignment. In an effort to continue making this site more beneficial and user friendly, I am going to attempt to start posting video lessons that correspond to the topic taught in class. It appears that I will be able to embed the videos right here. Sometimes these will be brief clips of myself performing examples, but more often than not, the content already exists and at a production quality that I am not capable of. In these cases I will be using the youtube links and they should be friendly to whatever device you are using.
