Class Information 1/26

Hello All,
I am writing today to inform you that I will be absent from my class for the next 5-7 school days. There was a sudden and very unexpected death in my immediate family yesterday and I am traveling down to be with them today.
During my absence classes will be taught by Clayton Douglas. He has agreed to sub for the entire time and is very familiar with the curriculum and our school. I expect classes to continue smoothly and I will be in contact with him to make sure things go well. I have left very detailed plans for him and there will not be a disruption to instruction.
I will check email while I am out, as well, so please feel free to contact me through emails or messages left at the school. I am planning to do a thorough update to grades in PS by tomorrow evening, so if you have been expecting to see a recently submitted assignment show check then. Unfortunately, the class website will not be updated during this time.
Regards,
Chris Heidemann

Welcome Back

I hope break was re-energizing for everyone. There will be some important changes and information coming home the first few days of the quarter. Please check for them in email and on the website. The biggest change will be that two of my classes will be piloting new materials for possible district purchase. Please feel free to contact me with any questions regarding the new materials. I would have preferred to have all classes on the new materials, but there simply aren't enough to make it work. Here's to a great start the semester.

4th Period Algebra 1/5

4th period will be the Algebra class participating in the pilot program. Students will be receiving new text books and journals today. In the near future they will receive logins for the online portion of the text. There may be some transition time in adjusting to a new approach to the procedures, but I believe this will be positive in the end. The course materials still cover the entire scope and sequence of a traditional Algebra program.

5th Period Pre Algebra 1/5

This class will be participating in the pilot program for a potential replacement to our current secondary math curriculum. Students will be issued new textbooks and journals in class today. In the near future each students will receive login information that will give the access to all text features online, as well as interactive activities to reinforce learning.

The new text is designed to align with new state standards. The new standards are more rigorous and in depth. There will be a transition period where students struggle to adapt to the new materials. We will spend lots of time in class helping to ease the transition.
